Approach to Therapy
I work with clients struggling with anxiety and depression. I have expertise in child/adolescent counseling, and perinatal mood disorders. When we meet I will ask questions to get a sense of what's going on, often starting with "What's bringing you in?". From there, we will discuss diagnoses and potential focus for treatment. I am patient led and will gently challenge when necessary. often like to pull from various modalities to help address the client's concerns. I utilize a blend of both skill-based therapy and taking a "deeper dive" to understand what may or may not be contributing to the clients' area of difficulty. A fair amount of psycho-education is also provided, the point being to understand ourselves more so that we can stop the cycle of blame and shame.
