Chelsea Singleton

Chelsea Singleton

I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) in the state of Alabama with a deep commitment to empowering individuals, families, and communities through trauma-informed, socially just, and culturally responsive care. My practice is grounded in the belief that every person deserves dignity, belonging, and access to mental health services that honor their unique story. With experience spanning public schools, the juvenile justice system, intensive outpatient treatment, and private practice, I specialize in supporting nontraditional family structures, kinship caregivers, and individuals navigating the challenges of oppression and systemic barriers. I strive to create a brave, nonjudgmental space where clients can feel safe to process their experiences, heal, and grow. In addition to my clinical work, I am the Founder and Executive Director of the Amplified Advocacy Initiative, a nonprofit organization dedicated to dismantling inequities, amplifying marginalized voices, and connecting families to vital resources. I also integrate scholarship, advocacy, and creative approaches—such as media, storytelling, and community-based events—to make conversations about mental health and social justice accessible and transformative. At the core of my work is collaboration. I partner with clients to identify their strengths, cultivate resilience, and pursue meaningful change—both individually and collectively.

Approach to Therapy

My approach to therapy is collaborative, compassionate, and tailored to the unique needs of each individual and family I work with. I believe healing begins when people feel truly seen and heard, so I strive to create a brave, nonjudgmental space where clients can safely explore their emotions, experiences, and identities. I draw from a range of evidence-based practices—including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Informed Care, and Strengths-Based approaches—while weaving in principles of cultural humility, social justice, and intersectionality. My work is grounded in the understanding that mental health does not exist in isolation; it is shaped by relationships, environments, and systemic forces. I specialize in supporting nontraditional family systems, caregivers, and individuals navigating grief, stress, and the impacts of oppression. Sessions often blend skill-building, mindfulness, and narrative work with practical strategies that clients can apply in their daily lives. I encourage open dialogue and shared decision-making, empowering clients to take an active role in shaping their therapeutic journey. Above all, my goal is to help clients discover resilience, reclaim their voice, and move toward a life that feels authentic and fulfilling.
